Requirement
A training programme, for all managers, to impart skills of coaching at work.
The Oakwood City approach
We agreed to develop a "blended" solution for the client, combining a one-day, skills-based, training programme for managers with an e-learning package.
First, together with a multimedia specialist, we created the e-learning programme, based upon a model of a coaching process that we developed for the purpose.
We produced a CD-ROM, incorporating instructional material and video sequences of coaching being carried out by our own expert and by real managers at work in different departments of the bank.
We then devised the one-day training programme, to be rolled out nationwide by the bank's own trainers. The training used the same coaching model and some of the video sequences used on the CD-ROM. We also included a number of practical, interactive exercises, designed to impart some of the essential skills of coaching.
The complete package, delivered on schedule, comprised a trainer's pack for the one-day workshop (detailed notes, slide, video and handouts) and the CD-ROM package, distributed to open learning centres in every region.
